Where We Started

AIA New Hampshire connects architects through membership, education, events, awards, and professional resources. Its website needed to serve as both a showcase for the profession and a practical tool for the chapter’s everyday work. The existing WordPress site was difficult to maintain, and an intern’s replacement Squarespace build had stalled. Executive director Bonnie Kastel needed help rethinking the site’s structure and design while finding a better way to manage directories, subscriptions, and job postings. Routine changes often required emails and manual updates, adding work to an already busy role.

What We Did

Working directly with Bonnie, we reorganized the site around its audiences and recurring activities, retaining useful pages and content from the unfinished build. We applied AIA National’s identity standards, designed by Pentagram, across the Squarespace website, giving architectural photography and member achievements greater prominence. We also introduced MembershipWorks to handle directories, member accounts, dues, magazine subscriptions, and job postings. We configured and integrated the system, while Bonnie migrated the chapter’s records with our technical guidance. This connected the public website with tools that let members, firms, subscribers, and employers manage their own information and transactions.

What Changed

Members and firms can update their own profiles, subscribers can manage their subscriptions, and employers can maintain job listings and receive applications directly. Routine tasks that previously passed through the chapter can now happen without the same back-and-forth. Screen-sharing sessions and vendor training prepared Bonnie to manage the system, and the chapter has needed little ongoing agency assistance. The result is a cohesive website that celebrates its architectural community while giving the organization and its members more control over everyday work.
